Bronco Test (1200m Shuttle Run)

Evaluate aerobic fitness and capacity to maintain high-intensity running with repeated 180° turns over 1200m

Primary measureTotal Time & Estimated MAS (km/h)
CategoryIntermittent Endurance
FormatCONTINUOUS
Pacing audioManual / Camera

Standardized testing protocol

5 continuous repetitions without pause. Each repetition: 20m out and back (40m), 40m out and back (80m), 60m out and back (120m) = 240m per rep. 5 reps × 240m = 1200m total distance.

Required field equipment

4 cones in a line at 0m (Start), 20m, 40m, and 60m. Measuring tape, stopwatch

Calculation formula & scoring

Time4Test automates this equation directly during the session:

Total Time (minutes & seconds). Estimated MAS (m/s) = 1200 / (Time - 20.3s) for athletes < 100kg. Convert to km/h (MAS × 3.6).
